Frequently asked questions about Health & Baby Care

When should a newborn see a paediatrician?
The AAP recommends the first well-baby visit within 3-5 days of hospital discharge, then at 1 month, 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months, and annually after that. Additional visits should occur whenever you have concerns about feeding, growth, or development.
Are baby personal care products safe?
Look for products labelled fragrance-free (not just unscented), alcohol-free, and clinically tested for infant skin. The AAP recommends avoiding products containing talc, parabens, phthalates, and added fragrances for infants under 6 months whose skin barrier is not yet fully developed.
When can I use sunscreen on my baby?
The AAP recommends avoiding sun exposure for babies under 6 months entirely, using shade, protective clothing, and hats instead. For babies 6 months and older, mineral-based sunscreens containing zinc oxide or titanium dioxide are preferred, as they are less likely to cause skin irritation.
