No alarm does not mean your baby is medically safe; it means the device detected movement above its threshold. Second, false alarms happen. If the clip shifts during active sleep the sensor may lose contact with the abdominal rise, triggering an alert when the baby is perfectly fine. In our three-month test we saw this happen on two occasions during restless nights. False alarms are disruptive and, over time, can erode a parent’s confidence in the device in both directions, either causing alarm fatigue or unnecessary anxiety.
